In memorandum: Spooks

Still haven't seen the final episode, but here's something I found at the local Co-op with which we could always our sorrows now that Spooks has finished: I have heard some spoilers. Bad things happen, apparently. No likey. Expect a post about the final series at some point when I've seen the last episode.

News roundup: Who's number 3 at the UK box office?

In the news today: The most recent adaptation of Jane Eyre was number three in the UK box office during its opening weekend. Well done! I think it was really well done considering out of the four cinemas in Nottingham (that I know of, anyway), only one is actually showing it - Showcase. Broadway will be showing it, but not until the end of the month. If that's the case here, what's it like in other parts of the country? #3 is well done! :) Keira Knightley, Jude Law and Aaron Johnson are billed to star in next year's adaptation of Anna Karenina . Haven't we known about Keira Knightley playing Anna Karenina for months now? Jude Law is to be Karenin and Johnson Vronsky. Speaking of adaptations, Joanna Trollope is apparently set to write a modern day re-make of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility . It's set to publish late 2013 and is a part of HarperFiction's attempts at giving all the Austen novels an update. I'm just slightly puzzled as to why this

Thomas Anders vs Spooks - or not, but one can dream

Image
I don't quite know what the spy theme is all about, but Thomas Anders in a tux - hey, that works for me. ;) Besides, it gives me something to look at while I'm waiting for Strong to be released in Germany because I'm not keen on paying £40 for the Russian version of the album. (I know it comes with a DVD but it's not like it's got a whole lot on it, you know?) And there's STILL no release date for it! It's been out like a whole YEAR in Russia now and Stay With Me is the new single, apparently. Ph33r my hacking skillz for embedding this video without it actually having an embedding link! (It's you and me, Tariq!) The song? Yeah, 's awight. The video ... yeah, err, looks shiny but I don't really know where the whole James Bond thing came from? And if we're talking spies, then I prefer talking about Spooks , because of who's in it, or who used to be in it. Yeah ... Him. Now that's a thought ... Thomas Anders and Lucas North

Dreaming of Spooks and NTA shortlist voting open (not related)

Image
Last night, I dreamed of Spooks . And Lucas North John Bateman wasn't even in it! (Bloody traitor.) It was something to do with a human-looking robot and a secret room in a house. It was hidden behind a bunk bed and the lock was really dodgy. And for being a super-secret bunker, why on earth did it have perfectly normal windows? Anyway, I believe Dmitri took Harry there, because it was top priority to keep Harry safe. Did that make me Dmitri or was I another spook? Anyway. I think I woke up somewhere there, after having given up on that blasted little key that wouldn't quite lock the secret door properly. Chin up, Harry. I saved you! If anyone wanted to vote in the National Television Awards, the shortlist voting opened today, and will remain open until 26 January. You can vote here: http://www.nationaltvawards.com/vote but there's nothing about Spooks or Richard Armitage or anything else Richard, boo. However, if you want to vote for Doctor Who or Sherlock , or t

Happy New Year! - A look back on 2010

Image
Tonight, in an hour, the UK will pass from 2010 to 2011. Almost half the world is already there, in fact! I hope 2010 has treated you well, and even if it hasn't, I hope 2011 will be (even) better. :) Here's a quick re-cap of the year of The Squeee . The Squeee in 2010 - A year of unabashed fangirling January opened with the All About the Brontës Challenge , where I set to work straight away, listening to some old radio plays of Jane Eyre , watched the 1996 film adaptation of the same and finished reading Wuthering Heights for the very first time. I also wrote about my visit to Haddon Hall the year before, and had ideas on how you might be able to make sports interesting , because let's face it, it's not exactly all that interesting. I also discovered I was Marianne Dashwood , even though I don't really play the piano. February announced the first International Magic Day , the blog got itself a makeover, and we were being spoiled rotten by Mr. Armitage n

Laila Rouass hearts Richard Armitage like the rest of us

Image
Found this in an interview with Laila Rouass (who plays Lucas's old love interest in Spooks 9) and found the bits regarding Richard Armitage truly aaaaaaawww-worthy: Who do you play in Spooks? A doctor called Maya. She’s the ex of Lucas North (Richard Armitage) who comes back into her life and turns everything upside down. She’s the love of his life and he’s the love of hers. Their relationship is dynamic and explosive and it makes them both question certain things – he has to make some serious decisions. Dun-dun-dun!! But how cute is that? It's twu wuv. Naww. <3 Are there any strip searches? It gets hotter. There’s one scene where we get together in the kitchen and the director was like, ‘Come on, let’s be honest, you haven’t seen each other for years, you’re not going to get all romantic, you’re going to shag her on the table,’ and I must have looked a bit nervous because Richard whisperered, ‘Don’t worry, I’m not really going to shag you on the table, you’l

Richard Armitage filmed interview about Spooks

Just came across this: Richard Armitage doesn't like violence for the sake of violence. He'd like Lucas to go out in a way that isn't necessarily violent - maybe drowning, because it's a personal fear for him. Harry would take Lucas in an armwrestling match and he would like to do something "nice and calm and all about love". Other than that, nothing really new under the sun. Oh, and there's stubble - and you can see chest hair. Not that I was distracted or anything. *cough* Also, why not have a look at the brand new Richard Armitage Daily online "newspaper" ? It's based on people using the #RichardArmitage hashtag on Twitter. :D David A Stephenson has an audio interview available as well, for £1. I can definitely bear to part with that amount of money for a near half-hour's interview with the Man with That Voice. Oh, it just finished downloading, yay! I repeat: "Jaysus, ladies, it's Christmas!" ( said in a broad

New Spooks = Christmas in Richard Armitage fanland!

Image
Wowza what a day to be Richard Armitage fan! And what a busy day for him! In the studio with Myleene Klass and then off to BBC to be on Radio 1 with Greg James. See, yesterday, the Chris Moyles breakfast show were lamenting the fact they didn't have a celeb lined up for Friday's show and I was thinking "hey, they could always get Richard Armitage in!" - and all the while, he was going to be on a later show instead. Cheered me up a lot to come across all these RA goodies thanks to fellow fans. My back has been playing up a lot lately so I finally made it to a physiotherapist yesterday so it can start to feel better and this totally made me forget about the aches and pains at least for a little bit, so thanks, ladies! A big thanks especially for all the lovely people who have made these things available for the rest of us! Grounds, walking upon, worship ... you know. :) After reforming my body from the happy puddle I got transformed into, let's see what's cr

Spooks 9 - all set for Monday!

Image
A work colleague was speaking to someone called Lucas, and when he had hung up, I said "I would've been SOOO impressed if that Lucas was Lucas North from MI5!" He looked at me and replied, "Why? Who's that?" - he obviously doesn't watch Spooks , but as he said he used to once upon a time, I let him know that it starts again on Monday, 20 September 2010, at 21:00 / 9pm. Series nine! Already! Woohoo! R.I.P. Ros Myers :( And here's the BBC blurb about episode 9.1: Reeling after the explosion at the hotel, Section D are left considering the sacrifices they make as spies. But they are soon back in action, tracking Somalian AQ terrorist Abib on a boat from Tangier. When it becomes clear that the boat is carrying a lethal load, the team fear it is headed to Plymouth for the launch of the newest addition to the royal navy's fleet. But is the real target elsewhere, and is it too late to find the UK source of the plan? Lucas's own faith is

Spooks 8 - coming soon!

Still no sign of a trailer, but hey, if we are to believe the BBC press release, series 8 of Spooks is heading to our screens next Wednesday, November 4! :D I like the fact it'll be on Wednesdays. There's bugger all else on that day! EDIT 29/10: And here it is, finally! :D Was going to embed it, but it didn't work with the layout (*groan*) so here's the link instead: Spooks Series 8 Trailer 1

Yes, you ARE a sex god, Richard!

By googling Spooks 8 in trying to find when it's going to be shown, I came across a Spooks forum which linked to an article in today's Daily Mail, entitled Me, a sex god? Spooks star Richard Armitage on his army of female fans ... When done swooning and squeeing, my reactions are thus: 1. He's no longer living with that previously mentioned lady, so a part of me is sad for his sake, while the other one wants to jump on a train to London. *cough* 2. It also says he can lay laminate flooring. We might want laminate in the new house we're moving to, Richard... fancy popping 'round and givin' us a hand? ;) (OMG, he's good at DIY as well! This guy is starting to sound too good to be true!) 3. He uses words like "frugal". That to me shows that he's well-read. People who are generally have a pretty decent vocabulary. Oh, and he has a "fast mind" (squeee!!) and a "fast metabolism": Richard, we love you already, don't rub it in.
