Jane Eyre premiering in Venice - bogus?

I thought the new adaptation of Jane Eyre was going to premiere at the Venice Film Festival now in September, but after scanning the films on show and the schedules, I can't find it. So I believe rumours of the film showing up in broad daylight at this year's Venice Film Festival have been greatly exaggerated. We still have to wait until March of next year ... *sigh*

The only thing to whet our appetites so far have been a few tweets from NY Times (?) Catherine Mayer (@catherine_mayer), namely these:

Watched the rough cut of forthcoming Jane Eyre movie. I think Mr Rochester will do for Michael Fassbender what Mr Darcy did for Colin Firth

Hoho wow, is all I have to say, in a Father Dougal type way. Splendid, can't wait!

Not least because Michael Fassbender does for breeches what Colin Firth did for breeches

Screenshot or it didn't happen! Seriously, show a picture of the guy so we can commence swooning pre-premiere!

Mia Wasikowska is, incidentally, wonderful as Jane Eyre

What, in a sort of "oh yah, the heroine's awright, btw" fashion? Maybe she was too taken by Rochester. ... Which bodes well for all of us on Team Rochester! :D

Jamie Bell is very good. You want to like the character but can't. The brutality of Jane's rejection is still shocking

Ohh, we're getting a decent St John for once? Excellent.

I think I need to bring out me Jane Eyre MP3s again (audio ripping from DVDs ftw!) as a consolation price. And post a gratuitous piccy of Michael Fassbender. Just as a "ah just wait for it, the man has potential" token. Ahhh ... we shall see, we shall see ...

    Isn't it frustrating when so little information is available about an upcoming movie? (On the other hand, I've been disappointed with films that overdo publicity so that when you finally watch them, it seems you've seen most of it already!)
    So thanks for finding those tweets! I haven't been sold on Fassbender yet so glad to hear Catherine thinks the role will be career changing for him. Difference though is that Fassbender is already quite established whereas Firth was pretty much unknown when donned his breeches!

    Yeah, it's such a shame. If it was a big blockbuster, there'd be lots of stuff by now - at least a trailer! We've had, what, a couple of pictures of Jane and that's about it? Unless you count the actress playing one if the Reed daughters who posted some pics of herself and the other Reed daughter actress. Which is nice, but I want to see a picture of Rochester!

    Absolutely right about Fassbender, he's been in a lot of things already. I think he might be able to pull it off - or at least, I hope he will - but we'll see. "Only" about 7 months to go now...

Richard Armitage will never be himself on TV

One of the interesting comments Richard Armitage was when an interviewer asked him, because he's a great dancer, is if we'd ever see him on something like Strictly Come Dancing . His response was that we'd never get to see Richard Armitage as Richard Armitage on TV. Basically, he's not the kind of celebrity to show up as soon as someone waves an invite to a reality TV show. Richard Armitage as himself. On telly. But not in a reality show. Things that make me love and respect the man: +1! Before I read that interview, I was thinking about him on Strictly , and then started to think of a host of other reality TV shows and whether or not he would be a suitable candidate. This is what I came up with ... Top Gear What it is: This is a car show, or ... a comedy show with cars in, depending on how you look at it. Rupert Penry-Jones and Peter Firth came on it to promote series 7 (?) of Spooks , so why not Richard Armitage? He does drive a car, after all ... Why
