firethorn02-10

Item 11 (and the penultimate one) in the Christmas Giveaway is a handcrafted natural wood wand, courtesy of Thornfield Handcrafted Wands.

Not necessarily any of the ones pictured here, though, you get to pick one, from the wandmaker's Storenvy shop. Any wand you like, regardless of wood type or size.

Cherry Wand 03 - 01

Giveaway closes at some point during 27 December 2011. Winner will be chosen at random and contacted and with a bit of luck, has responded with some form of contact details so I can send it when the post office opens again on the 28th.

Remember, I need to be able to contact you and get your postal address if you win, so if you're not on Facebook, Etsy, Twitter or any other way of getting in touch, it will be hard to let you know you've won, and so on, so in order to be in with a chance of winning, add some kind of contact details and answer the following qualifying question: Who's your favourite witch or wizard (from any books, films or TV series, etc.)? Also, if you win, which wand would you like?

This giveaway is open worldwide, with the exeption of Australia and New Zealand. There are restrictions for importing wood to Down Underland - sorry you guys. :/

Good luck! Check back in a few hours for today's book giveaway. :)

  1. ooooooh, you do save the best for last!!!

My favorite wizard off the top of my head is Gandalf. My favorite witch is Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty ("they're a disgrace to the forces of evil!").

  2. I'm not actually entering this, as I already have my own wand and my family makes them as well. (Here are some pictures of ours: http://www.fishingforlaketrout.blogspot.com/2011/09/confessions-of-teenage-caduceuturg.html) I just wanted to comment and say how fun it is to see fellow wandmakers and their products! I really like the handle on that second one. :)

  3. First of all - Merry Christmas! I hope you have a great time celebrating with your friends and family! :)

My favourite wizard... well perhaps HP, the wiz-kid himself. :D But I also love Zed from The Sword of Truth series.

And if I won I'd probably choose this wand: http://handmadewands.storenvy.com/products/171010-sakura-wand-03

  5. My favorite wizard is Voldemort, because I think that he is a really interesting and misunderstood character. Also he has really great magic powers which make him really cool. Voldemort is simply the best!

  6. Don't really think there's much to misunderstand with Voldemort, to be honest. He's a sociopath who enjoys hurting and killing people and is afraid to die. Ach, but then again, Rowling does have great characters with many layers. :)

  7. See, I'd never pick Gandalf personally. He's the most powerful wizard EVER, and what does he do with his magic? Sod all, basically. There are hoards of orcs and urukhai and whatevers, and he just rides around giving rousing speeches. What if he waved that staff around and just blasted the lot? Would've saved an awful lot of lives as well as time. Wouldn't be as dramatic, sure, but it would have been very efficient.

In a fight between Gandalf and Dumbledore, I keep saying Dumbledore would kick Gandalf's behind! ;)

I'm very partial to the horrible Mara from Trolltider, but that's a Swedish thing. :D

  10. I thought Zed was great in the TV series. Shame the TV series wasn't better, though. :/
