Thomas Anders rules September, and here's why!

Image
Ahh, we're spoiled for choice all of a sudden! 2011 is apparently the year to really be a Thomas Anders fan. :) First, the release of album Two by Anders | Fahrenkrog back in June, then Hits & Raritäten came out on 9 September (review to follow soon), followed by the long-awaited release of Strong outside Russia on the 18th. Granted, "only" as an MP3 album, but I don't care. Main thing is that it's finally available. Which is really ironic, because only today, I received the Oriflame edition, recently ordered from someone on eBay as it was the cheapest place to get it. And then, I turn on my computer and find out that HEY, GUESS WHAT? D'oh. Went straight to Amazon.de, and got a message about geographical restrictions. Was about to have a hissy fit until I remembered to check Amazon.co.uk and there it was - and as it's on the UK site, it means my gift certificate balance is available = free stuff!! Actually, I was looking for the tracklisting fo

Song! Video! Unlucky Guy of Gisborne!

Image
ZHE FIRST OF MANY!! (Possibly. Maybe. Hopefully?) If I can find inspiration, instrumental songs and time, that is. :) This one's about Guy of Gisborne from BBC's Robin Hood - Richard Armitage - and how he's unlucky in love. Based on "Lucky Guy" by Modern Talking. Or, actually, this is the instrumental to the "Ryan Simmons" version, but let's not split hairs. In retrospect, should've stuck with what I did originally, and have it as "you are no lucky guy", because "you are unlucky, Guy" sounds a heck of a lot like "you are a lucky guy". Ho hum, never mind. And for the next attempt at something like this, I'll prepare more beforehand ... and hopefully come up with better lyrics. ;) Not used to making fanvids, so it's as it is. Hope you enjoy it, anyway. Happy weekend everyone!

My First Fanvid

This is ancient, so it doesn't contain Richard Armitage. :P (Skip to the comment below the video.) It was cut together when I was still in school, so it's from 1999 or 2000. We didn't even have digital editing on computers at the time, so this is made the good ol' way with a couple of VHS players/recorders, using source material which for the most part was maybe 5th generation copies, so quality isn't brilliant ... but I do think it's kinda cute. :) With Richard Armitage fanvids, I did start to make a Guy/Marian one (yes, OMG! I don't even like Marian!) to a Blackmore's Night song, but haven't come very far. And I only have Windows Movie Maker, because the Sony one that came with my laptop is about as useful as Windows Live Movie Maker or whatever it's called. Which is a piece of shite that has done away with the timeline altogether, not to mention editing clips. Bleargh. Maybe one day I'll finish it. Maybe.

Happy April Fool's Day!

Have you been fooled by anything today? Here's a joke from 1999, but I still love it. :) Courtesy of ZTV's news show ZTV Nytt : Transcribed with translation: Kajsa Nyström, ZTV presenter: [voiceover, trailer] In ZTV News Thursday: Modern Talking sings a classic in Swedish. Kajsa Nyström: ZTV News can reveal today that the legendary 80:es band Modern Talking will do yet another version of their old hit "Brother Louie". As an award to all their Swedish fans, this song will be released in Swedish in about a month. Thomas Anders: This is, you know, was very special, because it’s not so easy to sing in Swedish. Umm... but we were in the studio and we did a special version... for... Sweden. And... umm... Dieter Bohlen: For all the reindeers. [they laugh] Thomas Anders: They have people here living here! [laugh] So we are very... umm... you know, we’re looking forward, and hopefully you’ll like it, and we will be number one with the Swedish version. It

"Walk the Dog" or "Lost in Koblenz"

Writing interlude! This one, apparently is in the style of Kurt Vonnegut . I really haven't got a clue, but I seriously doubt it. It was written, I think, in 1999, and I've not changed it - simply because I think it's cute in all its naivité (hey, I was 17!). At the time, I had never been in Koblenz, so really had no idea of what the town looks like, what the temperature is actually likely to be in December, and so on. Today, I would've said "why on Earth would they pick a spot half-way across town to meet? They could've just said THE BLOODY SQUARE OUTSIDE THE TRAIN STATION". But I digress. The funny thing is, this got published in a Vietnamese students magazine, or something like that, back in the day. Had an email from someone about it and got into a hissy fit at first, but was happy about the unauthorised use when I found out that I was properly credited in the magazine, the emailer had not been paid for it and he even offered to send me a copy, which

New Thomas Anders single, yay!

The new Thomas Anders album, Strong , is already released in Russia - the rest of us have to wait until May or June before its being released in Germany in order to get it from Amazon. Boo! Hiss! The first single from it is called "Why Do You Cry" and is a catchy song, not unlike a good Modern Talking track. Here's the official video: For the new album, Thomas has gone to Russia. The Russians have written songs, they've come up with a video and directed it and everything. It might actually be quite a smart move, because Modern Talking were (and still are, seven years after the second split) huge over there. Having the duo's singer working with a team of Russians and releasing the album there first might actually be a really clever move, rather than working with the usual bunch of Germans. Whatever. I wish him lots of success with this new album, and I can't wait to get my hands on it! Meanwhile, I suppose I'll just keep working on my SingStar hig

Geronimo's 4th Modern Talking Obession Test

Thought it was time for one of these again. Fourth in the series, points 301-400 on signs you're obsessed with Modern Talking. Last updated: 4 September 2000, and I haven't updated spelling and grammar mistakes since then. Again, this is a fairly insane list, mainly played for laughs, and no, I didn't get all points back then. :P Like the previous ones, a lot of things are obscure references to song lyrics, music videos, pictures and interviews. This is the 4th fun little test you can take, and check out exactly how obsessed you are with Modern Talking... :c) Instructions: Check all that apply.

Ready For Insanity - The 3rd Modern Talking Obsession Test

Third in the series, points 201-300 on signs you're obsessed with Modern Talking. This is the 3rd fun little test you can take, and check out exactly how obsessed you are with Modern Talking... :c) Instructions: Check all that apply.

X-TENded Modern Talking Obsession Test

Second in the series, points 101-200 on signs you're obsessed with Modern Talking. Last updated: 4 September 2000, and I haven't updated spelling and grammar mistakes since then. Again, this is a fairly insane list, mainly played for laughs, and no, I didn't get all points back then. :P Some points I really haven't got a clue what they mean, eg. the spaghetti throwing. WTH? (It might be a reference to something in a piece of fanfic for all I know.) Like the last one, a lot of things are obscure references to song lyrics, music videos, pictures and interviews. This is the 2nd fun little test you can take, and check out exactly how obsessed you are with Modern Talking... :c) Instructions: Check all that apply.

The Original Modern Talking Obsession Test

For old times sakes... a list of "You know you're a Modern Talking fan when" type thing which I begun some time in 2000, and managed to get up to about 750 points. I thought I'd make a serial of it! ;) I'll let the grammar and spelling errors stand uncorrected. Let's leave it as a legacy of good times gone by and let's travel back in time... and in case you were wondering, most of the points are obscure references to TV interviews, pictures, song lyrics or music videos, and the vast majority of them are played for laughs as opposed to being something someone would actually really do. I just thought I'd point that out, because the list goes more and more insane the longer it gets... This is the 1st fun little test you can take, and check out exactly how obsessed you are with Modern Talking... :c) Instructions: Check all that apply...
