R.I.P. Susannah York - Jane Eyre '70

I was writing a review when I came across an article on BBC News, saying actress Susannah York has died at 72, having struggled with cancer for a while.

She has been in a number of things over the years, but the thing I knew her from was as the red-haired, too-beautiful Jane in the 1970 adaptation of Jane Eyre, opposite George C Scott. Probably one of the adaptations I enjoyed the least, to be fair, but still, one of the Janes has passed away.

My thoughts are with her family and friends. May the Mother's last embrace welcome you home.

What are your recollections of Susannah York?

    I recall her in the olden days and how much I desired her hair cut. She had a shortish one that was awesome. I also recall how sensuous she was and earth motherly in many of her roles. A true passing of an era and a true actress. She was a presence.

    I admired her greatly. I remember fondly her Jane Eyre as it was the first adaptation I had ever seen. She was as talented as she was beautiful!

    Big role for me was as More's daughter in Man for All Seasons, speaking Latin to Henry VIII!

Richard Armitage will never be himself on TV

One of the interesting comments Richard Armitage was when an interviewer asked him, because he's a great dancer, is if we'd ever see him on something like Strictly Come Dancing . His response was that we'd never get to see Richard Armitage as Richard Armitage on TV. Basically, he's not the kind of celebrity to show up as soon as someone waves an invite to a reality TV show. Richard Armitage as himself. On telly. But not in a reality show. Things that make me love and respect the man: +1! Before I read that interview, I was thinking about him on Strictly , and then started to think of a host of other reality TV shows and whether or not he would be a suitable candidate. This is what I came up with ... Top Gear What it is: This is a car show, or ... a comedy show with cars in, depending on how you look at it. Rupert Penry-Jones and Peter Firth came on it to promote series 7 (?) of Spooks , so why not Richard Armitage? He does drive a car, after all ... Why
