MTV Movie Awards 2010

So, the golden popcorn have been delivered... and like I predicted last month, Twilight won everything they were nominated in. Crud. We'll get to that in a bit.

Christina Aguilera's performance, with the cogs in the background, would've been so much more interesting if she had been dressed up in a Steampunk style.

I have no idea who the presenter was. But he was kinda funny. At least this year, we were spared Brüno going down on Eminem... ugh. (Or was that a different MTV awards show?)

There were plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, especially the movie parody clip things. They're normally funny. Much to our delight, the studio boss Les Grossman from Tropic Thunder made several appearances. Including dancing with J-Lo. I didn't know Tom Cruise could move! His lady wife in the audience seemed to enjoy him more dressed up as Les gettin' jiggy wif it rather than when he was presenting an award with Cameron Diaz. Well, "Les is more" as a newspaper headline in the background said.

Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell hanging from the ceiling heckling Tom Felton... was a lot funnier than it sounds. The kiss between Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson was very... construed? You could see it coming a mile off. Nice to see Betty White as well - the only remaining Golden Girl. She gave a really funny performance confusing Sandra Bullock's parts in various movies. Speaking of which, Bullock won the Generation Award. Well-deserved! She's a great and very versatile actress.

So, who won?

Best Kiss: Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, The Twilight Saga: New Moon - the mere thought makes me queasy. How come they made such a big deal of accepting the award this year, anyway? With that awkward trying-to-kiss-but-failing? They didn't have an issue with it last year. And then they weren't even a couple.

Best Fight: Beyoncé Knowles vs. Ali Larter, Obsessed

Best Villain: Tom Felton, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - no, Draco is a pansy! But I'll let it slide. At least it wasn't a Twilight win. Mainly because they weren't nominated. Still think Colonel Landa was a better baddie, but there you go.

Best WTF Moment: Ken Jeong, The Hangover - who probably had the most heartfelt thank you speech, talking about his wife's breast cancer.

Biggest Badass Star: Rain

Best Scared-As-S**t Performance: Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer's Body - who admitted not a lot of people watched that film... tee hee.

Best Breakout Star: Anna Kendrick, Up in the Air

Best Female Performance: Kristen Stewart, The Twilight Saga: New Moon - no. Just f***ing no. I thought it was an award for acting. Pick one that can actually act. This one sure can't. I saw parts of Panic Room, and I thought "she looks familiar". Then, as she was unable to have her mouth shut properly, I realised who she was. And she wasn't a good actress there either. She didn't even look particularly pleased to be there or to receive awards.

Best Male Performance: Robert Pattinson, The Twilight Saga: New Moon - Okay, the choices weren't great, but... no. Switched over to the Graham Norton Show afterwards and saw a bit where comedian Jack Whitehall admitted to going to school with RPatz, and said the boy wasn't a good actor then either. Apparently, Whitehall also said he was the only one laughing when Cedric died in HP4. Go Jack!

Best Comedic Performance: Zach Galifianakis, The Hangover - good beard. Good beard.

Global Superstar: Robert Pattinson - NO. This is going to be my pet peeve for the MTV Awards this year. The one category where the wrong one definitely won. HOW THE F***ING HELL CAN JOHNNY DEPP NOT WIN THIS CATEGORY?!?!?! BAH! I mean, realistically, Sandra Bullock should've won Best Female Performance, but she won the Generation Award at least, which sort of mitigates the loss, but Johnny Depp not winning this category is criminal. A crime against acting. And actors. Was that why they just lumped in the prize with the Best Male Performance? To sort of shove under the carpet that there was an awesome actor who should've got it but didn't?

Best Movie: The Twilight Saga: New Moon, directed by Chris Weitz - Yeah whatever.

Like the presenter said in the end: "Twilight won everything! Good night!" At least it's just two more films... two more... and then perhaps we can finally resume normality. And in case you were wondering, here's why I'm not Team Meyer:
