Movie suggestions for Halloween?

Any suggestions for movies that'd go well with the season? Perhaps an X-Files or Poltergeist: The Legacy marathon? Maybe it's time to watch Possession (Sam Neill and Isabelle Adjani, not the one with Jeremy Northam, Jennifer Ehle, Toby Stephens and all - two very different movies indeed).

Weeeell, we shall see if there is time to watch a film over the weekend. Got other plans. Oh crud, I just remembered - we went to both Tesco and Asda earlier and we didn't pick up any pumpkins! :/

(Watching the Jonathan Ross Show on BBC1... Mamma Mia! was a truly awful movie. I rarely seriously dislike a film, but good grief, that's one of them. *shudders* An Education looks really interesting though, and I love Carey Mulligan!)

    I tend to like the kid Halloween movies, like "Hocus Pocus." But if I'm going for a more adult type movie, "The Ring" and "The Sixth Sense" give me chills every time without giving me nightmares. (I'm such a pansie when it comes to scary movies.) :)

    Thanks for the suggestions! A channel's just started showing "The Village", speaking of M Night Shamalamanafhdsklfdhng. Never seen "The Ring", but I hear it's supposed to be pretty scary. "Sixth Sense" is great, although the Plot Twist does kind of spoil a re-watch. It was quite funny, when we saw "The Village" originally, I said something as a bit of a joke about what the Big Plot Twist would be... and lo and behold, that was it! I had got it right! o.O

    In the end, ended up watching "The Dark", which I had recorded last night. The ending was, umm, a little... open to interpretation, shall we say. Not quite sure what was going on there! Definitely eerie and considering Samhain is all about the veil between this world and the next being thin, and the movie was about that border being crossed... that definitely upped the scariness!

    Re: Mamma Mia! I agree with you. I thought it was really embarrassing. The only one who could sing was the daughter and they didn't give her much screen time. I admire Meryl Streep, but as a singer, she is a great actress! Sadly, they made my previous crush Piers Brosnan look somewhat foolish by straining himself to stay in tune! WHY oh WHY would they make a musical and not use real singers???
    You know who would have been great in that Piers Brosnan role? None other than ours truly -- Richard Armitage! I hear he can sing -- why don't they let him?!!
    Okay, my rant is done. Nobody mention Mamma Mia to me again...or I might just loose it!

Richard Armitage will never be himself on TV

One of the interesting comments Richard Armitage was when an interviewer asked him, because he's a great dancer, is if we'd ever see him on something like Strictly Come Dancing . His response was that we'd never get to see Richard Armitage as Richard Armitage on TV. Basically, he's not the kind of celebrity to show up as soon as someone waves an invite to a reality TV show. Richard Armitage as himself. On telly. But not in a reality show. Things that make me love and respect the man: +1! Before I read that interview, I was thinking about him on Strictly , and then started to think of a host of other reality TV shows and whether or not he would be a suitable candidate. This is what I came up with ... Top Gear What it is: This is a car show, or ... a comedy show with cars in, depending on how you look at it. Rupert Penry-Jones and Peter Firth came on it to promote series 7 (?) of Spooks , so why not Richard Armitage? He does drive a car, after all ... Why
